In 2015, I began my career in tissue banking with MiMedx as a laboratory technician processing birth tissue into final tissue products. A few years later I transitioned over into their Quality Assurance department taking on a wide variety of duties from reviewing tissue processing records to managing company wide inventory of all tissue products. In 2022, I moved to Colorado and took on the role of Regulatory Affairs Coordinator at Donor Alliance. Since my time at Donor Alliance I have become a certified Quality Auditor to help better serve my role in helping to heal and save lives.

Amanda Davis began her career in the donation industry in 2011 as a phlebotomist for blood banks. She subsequently earned her certification as a surgical technologist and assisted surgeons during procedures at a Level 1 trauma hospital. Since 2016, she has been dedicated to the tissue donation industry and currently serves as a Quality Assurance Coordinator at Donor Alliance where she is responsible for maintaining donor records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, conducts technical reviews of donor charts and tissue recovery documentation, collects and reviews medical records, and serves as a liaison to tissue processors and affiliates for donor follow-up activities and requests.

I began my tissue banking career in 2017 as a Tissue Processing Technician at AlloSource. I gained hands-on experience in allograft tissue production, packaging, and sterilizing. A year later I became a Tissue Processing Technician Technical Expert and trained new staff within the department. In 2021 I began my career in proteomics at SomaLogic, running assays and preparing samples from clients. During my time there I became a Senior Laboratory Associate and gained knowledge in different areas including problem solving, quality management, and time management. My journey with Donor Alliance, Inc. began in late 2024 as a Quality Management System Coordinator. Within this new role I will continue to help heal and save lives through organ and tissue donation.

He initially joined USP’s quality department after holding various operations, quality, and regulatory affairs leadership positions in the blood and clinical laboratory industries. Mr. Sindaco earned a B.A. in Biology from Franklin and Marshall College, an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation from the University of Florida, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Corinne is the Executive Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Treasurer of the Anatomy Gifts Registry (AGR), a non-profit whole body donation program. AGR is one of the accredited Non-transplant Anatomic Donation Organizations, or NADOs. Corinne has over 12 years of experience in non-transplant tissue banking ranging from donor family services through research client services and executive management. Corinne has been active in the AATB Ad-Hoc committee, recently turned council, working on the physical assessment and risk assessment guidance documents, among other projects.
Corinne has Bachelor's and Master's of Science degrees in human nutrition, focusing on clinical nutrition and epidemiology, and has completed her clinical dietetic internship at the University of Maryland,Medical Center, and holds a Registered Dietitian (RD) credential, and has been a Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) since 2009.

How tissue banks handled the investigation of some of the fatal cases in the past will be discussed; the recent fatal and nonfatal tuberculosis transmissions will be covered. D. Ted Eastlund, MD, has been a tissue banker and member of AATB for over 40 years, has been an AATB VP, president and chair of the AATB Board of Governors and has served on several committees. He was awarded AATB’s Kenneth W Sell Distinguished Service Award. In the early 2000s he led an AATB effort to investigate the fatal transmission of clostridium through tissue which resulted in changes in standards. He has been a medical director of a multi-tissue bank, semen bank, hospital tissue service, human milk bank, an embryo storage service, an OPO, fetal tissue bank, cord blood bank, blood bank and was national medical officer American Red Cross Tissue Services. For decades his interest in tissue and organ-transmitted diseases has led to testifying before congress, serving on an FDA Advisory Committee and giving invited lectures in 25 countries. He currently is medical director of the tissue bank at the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Katie began her career in tissue banking in 2012 as an Operations Technician at AlloSource and became CTSB certified in 2013. She gained hands-on experience in allograft tissue production, cleansing, and packaging, as well as product development, quality management, and technical writing. Katie co-authored two patents (currently pending) on rapid allograft treatment. She completed her Master of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Change Management in 2020 at the University of Colorado, aligning her passions in science and business.

Johnny Williams is a two-time tissue recipient. He received two osteochondral allografts to replace damaged cartilage in his knee when he was 16. Prior to this, Johnny was told he would need a TKA and until then, he would need to walk on crutches and live with the pain. Tissue donation absolutely changed Johnny so much so that when he graduated high-school, he went on to work as a student assistant with the same team of health care professionals that saved his knee at the Missouri Orthopedic Institute while attending college at Mizzou. Johnny went on to join a PhD program, studying osteochondral allograft transplantation in clinical patients. Johnny joined Arthrex soon after he graduated as an Associate Product Manger, working on the team that oversees OCA instrumentation.

Emily L. Carter, CTBS, CEBT, is the Senior Account Manager for Donor Services at LeMaitre, Inc. Based in Salem, Massachusetts, she has steadily advanced her career in tissue recovery since 2015. Emily is an active member of the AATB community, contributing to the AATB RADE council and Education Committee, with a focus on providing diverse educational resources. Her current role spans the nation, where she oversees cardiovascular field training, tissue partner webinars, and serves as a vital link between tissue leaders and recovery teams. With a diverse medical background, Emily excels in communication with all stakeholders in the organ, eye and tissue donation industry.
