Description: This webinar is designed to bring understanding of the current state of gender identity advocacy in the fields of forensic pathology and medicolegal death investigation, which are closely associated with other fields of deathcare and medicine, including tissue banking and organ procurement organizations. The speaker will review current gender diverse terminology, as well as targeted questions and markers used to assess how to accurately and respectfully address and document unique gender identities of an individual patient or decedent. Current practices and recommendations in medicolegal death investigation, documentation, and reporting of these cases will also be reviewed and highlighted.
Target Audience: Tissue bank professionals involved in donor evaluation, recovery, processing, documentation, and quality assurance.

Juniper Fedor, MS, PA (ASCP)CM, D-ABMDI is the Lead Pathologists' Assistant at the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office in Atlanta, Georgia. Juniper is a pioneering advocate for the collection and documentation of gender diverse information in medicolegal death investigation. He was awarded the 2023 National Association of Medical Examiners Susan P. Baker Public Health Impact Award for his presentation in transgender decedent reporting and advocacy, and the 2025 Eckert Memorial Award for his subsequent publication. He also promotes the utilization of pathologists’ assistants in forensics to help combat the ME/C workforce shortage. Juniper started as an autopsy technician and death investigator at the University of Michigan, and was even a funeral professional in a previous life. He spends his free time playing music, including bass and mandolin.
