Description: The state of New York has released proposed rule making for their Standards for Tissue Banks and Nontransplant Anatomic Banks and other conforming changes. This proposal involves a complete repeal of existing regulations and replacement with extensively revised requirements. Join this webinar to hear a brief overview of the proposed changes from Dr. Matthew Kohn, Director of New York State's Tissue Resources Program, and to participate in Q&A. Matthew Kohn, PhD

Dr. Matthew Kohn received his B.A. in Biology from Williams College, a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Columbia University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. After completing his postdoc, Dr. Kohn joined NYSTEM, the New York State Stem Cell Research program, as a Science Officer, responsible for overseeing a portfolio of 50-plus research projects, ranging from basic, fundamental research, through translational and clinical projects, in addition to facilities and educational programs. For a number of years, Dr. Kohn was the Program Director for the National Science Foundation-funded summer Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Wadsworth Center, NYS's public health and research lab. Dr. Kohn joined the Tissue Resources Program in 2017 and has been Director of the Program since 2020.
Mario Sindaco, MS, MBA

Mr. Sindaco joined AATB in 2023 as Director of Standards. Prior to joining AATB, he spent 18 years at the United States Pharmacopeia, heading operations for standards and serving as Executive Secretariat to the Council of Experts. He initially joined USP’s quality department after holding various operations, quality, and regulatory affairs leadership positions in the blood and clinical laboratory industries. Mr. Sindaco earned a B.A. in Biology from Franklin and Marshall College, an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation from the University of Florida, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
