Description: The 15th Edition TB Standards became effective on January 30, 2025. One year later, this session offers a step-by-step review of the standards, practical application to donor screening scenarios, and an interactive Q&A. A panel of three physicians will provide expert insight from both medical and regulatory perspectives.

Target Audience: Medical directors, physicians, donor eligibility professionals, quality and regulatory staff, and tissue bank personnel responsible for donor screening and compliance with the AATB 15th Edition TB Standards.










Noelle Edwards, MD

Associate Medical Director

Noelle Edwards, MD, FAAP is an Associate Medical Director for LifeNet Health and member of the Physician’s Council since 2022. She is a Pediatrician and has been passionate about tissue donation since being introduced to the industry as a tissue recovery technician prior to medical school. Noelle serves as the current Physician's Council Secretary and has been an active member of AATB Physician’s Council, participating in educational talks on Allograft Cancer Transmission, Adequate Medical Records, Sepsis case reviews, and a Tuberculosis panel discussion. She has also been an active contributor in the AATB Tuberculosis and Sepsis Working groups, and has been the Physician’s Council Track Representative in the planning committees for the 2024 and 2025 Annual Meetings. Dr. Edwards hopes to continue to progress the tissue banking industry by serving the AATB and its Physician Council members in striving for the advancement of evidence-based decision-making and providing forward-thinking educational opportunities. She seeks to align tissue banking Medical Directors through the shared goal of utilizing the most recent scientific and medical knowledge to optimize donor gift utilization and safety.  

Sally Alrabaa, MD

Medical Director and Associate Professor of Medicine

Dr. Alrabaa completed internal medicine residency at the New York Medical College-Saint Vincent Hospital in Staten Island, New York in 2004, then Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of South Florida and was inducted Alpha Omega Alpha member with the university in 2010. She is currently a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and the medical director of LifeLink Tissue Bank of Florida, Georgia and Puerto Rico. Dr. Alrabaa is an attending physician at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) where she actively sees patients and teaches medical students, residents and fellows. She is Co-Director of Organ Transplant Infectious Diseases and a member of Infection Prevention committee at TGH. Dr. Alrabaa is affiliated with the Florida Department of Health as a supervising attending physician for tuberculosis services.  Her areas of expertise include preventing and treating infections in solid organ transplant recipients, preventing and treating healthcare associated infections, travel related infections, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and tissue transplant donors screening and selection. She is a member of the American Society of Infectious Diseases (IDSA) and a member of the physician council at the American Association of Tissue banking (AATB).

Melissa Greenwald, MD

Melissa Greenwald, MD, FAST is an internationally recognized expert in cell, organ and tissue safety and policy.  Dr. Greenwald is a graduate of the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine who spent 25 years on active duty in the US Public Health Service with over 14 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulating human tissues for transplantation.   Dr. Greenwald also spent four years at the Health Resources and Services Administration where she retired as the Director of the Division of Transplantation.  Dr. Greenwald then directed her own consulting business specializing in safety management and regulatory affairs for cell, organ and tissue products.  She now proudly serves as Chief Medical Officer of the American Association of Tissue Banks.
