Supply chains and inventory management have become hot topics through COVID and the post-pandemic world. During this session, we will review lessons learned in inventory and supply management, documentation processes, instrument sterilization, and much more. Join us as representatives from three organizations compare and contrast their practices and experiences in inventory and sterile supply management.

Bill Bickford

Materials Management Coordinator

Center for Organ Recovery & Education

Bill Bickford is a Materials Management Coordinator at the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE), the organ procurement organization serving western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Bickford is responsible for clinical inventory and sterilization of instruments used in the organization's onsite surgical suites. Bickford joined CORE in 2013, bringing with him significant experience in sterilization. This knowledge has led to greater use of the surgical suites and has, in turn, increased the number of organs recovered from each organ donor. Also, Bickford was instrumental in the deployment of CORE’s inventory management system, BTM. Bickford is certified in sterile processing and holds a CRCST certification.

Adam Gnipp

Materials Management Coordinator

Center for Organ Recovery & Education

Adam Gnipp is a Materials Management Coordinator at the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE), the organ procurement organization serving western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Gnipp is responsible for clinical inventory and sterilization of instruments used in the organization's onsite surgical suites. Gnipp joined CORE in 2013, bringing with him significant experience in sterilization. This knowledge has led to greater use of surgical suites and has, in turn, increased the number of organs recovered from each organ donor. Also, Gnipp was instrumental in upgrading CORE's washing and sterilization equipment for the surgical suite. The process deployment for the organization's inventory management system in 2014 has significantly improved operational response to recalls and now allows CORE to track exactly what equipment is used for each donor case.  Gnipp is certified in sterile processing and holds a CRCST certification.
