Plasma Dilution: Comparing Algorithms To Show Efficacy

This review of plasma dilution algorithms will provide professional tissue bankers with information never presented before including: When blood loss is important and when it is not; how algorithms differ depending on whether patient characteristics like gender, height, weight, and total body surface area. Attendees will have the opportunity to see how various case studies are evaluated by more than 20 different algorithms in use today.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will be able to differentiate why different dilution algorithms are useful on different patients including male versus female, adult versus pediatric, and normal weight versus under- and over-weight.
  2. Attendees will have a better understanding of the approach to plasma dilution in the United States versus internationally.
  3. Attendees will know more about which dilution algorithms are more or less conservative and likely to rule a donor patient in or out for serological testing.
