Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand information themes being accessed via the DRAI 
  2. Analyze the background and intention behind the development of the DRAI and how it is intended to aid in decision making o Utilizes follow-up questions to help gather additional information when needed o Reviewing information obtained from multiple questions 
  3. Understand the importance of the recipient interaction while conducting the DRAI o Ensuring that individual being interviewed understands why questions are being asked, and that their anxieties are allayed maximizes the quality of information obtained
  4. Analyze common pitfalls when completing the DRAI and establish ways to tackle this with training

Jennifer Drago, CTBS, CQM/OE, CQA

Jennifer Drago is the Executive Director of Advanced Quality Resources, a Quality Systems and Regulatory Consulting firm, and a Quality Auditor. She has over 15 years of combined experience in Quality and Regulatory Affairs in Blood Banking, Medical Devices, and Tissue & Organ Procurement. She has served as the AATB Quality Council Vice-Chair from 2017 to 2020 and is the current Chair of the Quality Council. 

She has previously worked as a Quality Systems Manager at an Organ and Tissue Recovery Agency. She received a BS degree in Physical Science from Kansas State University. She has a broad knowledge of tissue banking, working with all types of tissue establishment from recovery through distribution. 

Jennifer is a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (AATB), Certified Quality Auditor (ASQ), and a Certified Manager of Quality and Operational Excellence (ASQ). She also has her Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification and was a Six Sigma White Belt Trainer.

Melissa Greenwald, MD

Melissa Greenwald, MD is an internationally recognized expert in cell, organ and tissue safety and policy. Dr. Greenwald is a graduate of the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine who spent 25 years on active duty in the US Public Health Service with over 14 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulating human tissues for transplantation. Dr. Greenwald also spent four years at the Health Resources and Services Administration where she retired as the Director of the Division of Transplantation. Dr. Greenwald now directs her own consulting business specializing on safety management and regulatory affairs for cell, organ and tissue products. Dr. Greenwald serves the tissue banking industry in various roles, including Medical Director, Scientific Advisor, and Regulatory Affairs. She serves on the AATB standards committee as a representative of the Physicians Council.

Jami Otis, BS, CTBS

Training Manager of Donor Records

Jami Otis joined AlloSource in May 2007.  She brings over 22 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with 15 years focusing on training/education.  Jami received her education from the University of Colorado Boulder in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology.  Prior to joining AlloSource, Jami spent 13 years in the blood banking/cord blood industry, has experience in tissue recovery, and was an EMT-Intermediate for a rural ambulance service. Jami is currently the Donor Records Training Manager and runs the AlloSource Placenta Donation Program.
