Shawn O. Smith, BS, MBA

Shawn Smith is a native of Oklahoma and graduated in 1985 from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Microbiology. Upon the urging from her micro professor, she began her pharmaceutical career in Atlanta with Wyeth Laboratories in 1987. Her focus was calling on pediatricians and OBGyn’s with baby formula and birth control pills. Her pharmaceutical career evolved as the companies she worked for did as the focus shifted to vaccines. Shawn was promoted in 2001 to the Specialty Account Manager Position with Wyeth Pediatrics and called on the State Immunization Programs for Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina and their respective Departments of Health and teaching institutions. 2008 saw the Pfizer acquisition of Wyeth which resulted in Shawn being displaced from her Specialty Account Manager position into a yearlong sabbatical to contemplate her next career move. It was her first experience to be a stay-at-home mom…..the most demanding and rewarding job. Shawn was hired by Sanofi Pasteur in 2009 as their Public Health Manager and worked in that position covering the state of Georgia focusing on the state immunization program, the Department of Public Health and the VA system. Shawn currently is still working with Sanofi Pasteur as Senior Vaccine Specialist focusing on Public Health, Federally Qualified Health Centers and Health Systems in the Northeast section of Georgia. Shawn is an “Okie” at heart but a Georgia Peach now for the fact she has lived longer in Georgia than she did in Oklahoma. Shawn is an avid golfer and tennis player nd in the fall cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs (except when they play her Oklahoma State Cowboys). Shawn has been married to Tim Smith, a Georgia native for 29 years. Shawn proudly birthed two boys, Candler David Smith in 1997 and Thomas O’Halloran Smith in 2000. Shawn serves her community through her church and their mental health ministry team as well as Mill Creek High School with NG3 a student-athlete mentoring / character-building organization. She is a VIP Platelet donor with the American Red Cross and over these past 4 years has become an advocate for mental health awareness and a trained volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and LifeLink of Georgia (Georgia’s OPO.)
