Since the first birth of a child after uterus transplantation in 2014 the burgeoning field of transplant surgery has had an exponential growth and is today the most sought-after vascular composite transplantation. Infertility caused by a uterine factor affects an estimated 3–5% of women worldwide and is either congenital (e.g., mullerian agenesis) or acquired (e.g., obstetrical loss). For those women desiring to carry their own child, uterus transplantation is the only treatment. This presentation will take the participants through the evolution of uterus transplantation to understand the added value of this unique life-giving fertility transplantation.
